As a follow-up to the long-term vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, ASTA CITA, and the directives of the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar), through the Deputy for Event Organizer Development – Assistant Deputy for Event Strategy, is currently developing the Roadmap for the Development of Indonesia’s Tourism Event Industry. As part of the roadmap formulation process, a series of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) are being conducted to ensure that the process is participatory, relevant, and evidence-based.

The first FGD (DKT I) was held on 3 September 2025 and successfully gathered strategic issues, challenges, opportunities, and initial recommendations from tourism event stakeholders. The insights collected from DKT I were processed into a draft of the Roadmap for the Development of the Tourism Event Industry, which was then presented in the second FGD (DKT II) held on 8 October 2025 at the Grand Platinum Hotel, Central Jakarta. The second FGD session was conducted offline and attended by 69 participants representing various ministries, government agencies, associations, and event industry players.

DKT II began with remarks from Fransiskus Handoko, SST.Par., M.Sc, Assistant Deputy for Event Strategy, Deputy for Event Organizer Development, outlined the objectives of the discussion and emphasized the importance of cross-ministerial and inter-agency synchronization to advance the development of Indonesia’s tourism event industry. The DKT II session was officially opened via video conference by Drs. Vinsensius Jemadu, MBA, Deputy for Event Organizer Development, who highlighted the importance of having a comprehensive roadmap for the tourism event industry and encouraged participants to share their insights and aspirations to refine the document.

DESMA Center, as the implementing partner in developing the roadmap, presented the references and methodology used in the drafting process, followed by a presentation of the Draft Roadmap for Indonesia’s Tourism Event Industry. After the presentation, an open discussion session was held where participants shared recommendations and insights related to the roadmap. The discussion generated key points, including:
1. Alignment of policies among ministries and government institutions;
2. The importance of safety, consumer, and industry protection;
3. Incentive mechanisms for tourism events.

Through DKT II, the drafting team successfully collected recommendations and information to refine the roadmap draft, ensuring that the inputs from all stakeholders — government, industry, and associations — are comprehensively accommodated. The final Roadmap for Indonesia’s Tourism Event Industry is expected to serve as a guiding framework for developing Indonesia’s tourism event industry and its ecosystem into a competitive, high-quality, and sustainable national industry.
