Penyerahan Sertifikat CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety dan Environment Sustainability) Berstandar SNI kepada Lembaga Pariwisata Ekowisata Batu Katak, Kabupaten Langkat, Sumatera Utara

DESMA Center has been providing assistance since early 2022 in the Batu Katak Ecotourism Area. This activity was carried out in the context of a development project of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity (ACB), co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW.
The Ecotourism Digitalization Program and Strengthening the Capacity of Ecotourism Actors in Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency, facilitates CHSE certification in the category of Tourist Attractions. In October 2022, the CHSE audit team visited Batu Katak Ecotourism to ensure that the Batu Katak Ecotourism Area had met the requirements for implementing CHSE in accordance with the SNI standard criteria. Based on the final results of the audit team's visit, there were no findings that were not in accordance with the SNI criteria for Tourism Attractions in the Batu Katak Ecotourism Area. During the program, coaching was conducted so that the Batu Katak Tourism Institute team could fill in the documents and meet all the requirements to obtain the certificate.
In connection with the certification of the Batu Katak Ecotourism Area, on November 30, 2022, Dr. U. Mamat Rahmat, S.Hut., MP; Head of Gunung Leuser National Park handed over the CHSE certificate to Mr. Ngalemi, chairman of the Batu Katak Tourism Board. The handover was witnessed by Wiwik Mahdayani; Founder & Director of DESMA Center and Team, as well as all participants who attended both online and in person.

Through the submission of this CHSE certificate, Batu Katak Ecotourism Area has been declared certified. It is hoped that the community and tourism businesses in Batu Katak can continue to maintain the environmental conditions of the ecotourism area by considering Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environment Sustainability and improve the quality of sustainable ecotourism-based tourism.
The submission of the CHSE certificate in Batu Katak Ecotourism Area, Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra is part of the Ecotourism Digitalization Project and Strengthening the Capacity of Ecotourism Actors in Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra implemented by DESMA Center.

The Ecotourism Digitalization and Capacity Building Program consists of a series of training activities that include: (1) Tour Guiding Training (2) Itinerary and Tour Quotation Preparation Training (3) Service Excellence Training (4) Homestay Management Training (5) Culinary Training (6) Hygiene & Sanitation Training (7) Financial Management Training (8) Social Media Management Training (9) Story Telling Training, Caption Writing, writing Ecotourism Promotion Articles.
This project also provides facilitation (1) implementation of CHSE certification in the tourist attraction category, (2) business matching, (3) Fam trip (4) Stakeholders Networking, and (5) Development of a digital platform that will synergize tourism and creative economy businesses in the Gunung Leuser National Park area in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.
The Ecotourism Digitalization Program and Strengthening the Capacity of Ecotourism Actors are aimed at providing solutions to the challenges of market access, connecting attractions and increasing quality tourism products in the GLNP region III area. This is in line with government objectives contained in the National Medium-Term Plan 2020 - 2024, the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy 2020 - 2024 and the National Tourism Development Master Plan 2010 - 2025.
