The Assistant Deputy for Business Standardization and Certification, Deputy for Industry and Investment, Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with DESMA Center, conducted a survey on the perceptions of tourism business actors and local governments regarding business standardization and certification in the tourism sector.
To support the implementation of this survey, a series of online consultation meetings was held from July 28 to August 28, 2025, involving 32 business associations representing 13 types of tourism businesses across Indonesia, with a total of 123 participants. The objective of this activity was to gather insights and perceptions regarding standardization and certification of tourism businesses as the basis for drafting more adaptive and implementable policy recommendations.
The survey was conducted to assess the understanding of tourism business actors and local governments on the implementation of provisions on standardization, business certification, and supervision in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) No. 5 of 2021, as well as Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Regulation (Permenparekraf) No. 4 of 2021 and No. 18 of 2021.
Through this series of consultation meetings, tourism business actors were given the opportunity to share their views, experiences, and challenges in implementing tourism business standardization, certification, and supervision. In addition, this activity served as an open discussion forum between the government, associations, and business players to strengthen shared understanding of current policy directions, especially following the issuance of Government Regulation (PP) No. 28 of 2025, which replaces PP No. 5 of 2021, and its technical regulations through Permenparekraf No. 4 and No. 18 of 2021.
The outcomes of these consultation meetings are expected to provide strategic input for formulating policies and mechanisms for implementing tourism business standardization and certification that are more effective, inclusive, and sustainable. In this way, policies will not only be top-down in nature but will also reflect the aspirations and real needs of business actors and local governments.
The survey results and consultation series will be compiled into an analytical report to serve as a foundation for strengthening policies on tourism business standardization and certification in Indonesia. Accordingly, the survey and consultation findings are expected to provide valuable input and considerations for developing further policies and regulations under the framework of PP No. 28 of 2025.
This initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to enhance competitiveness, service quality, comfort, and safety for tourists, while also promoting professionalism within the national tourism industry.
