DESMA Center Collaborates with ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity to Participate in the International Ecotourism Travel Mart (IETM) 2023 in Silang, Cavite, the Philippines
The International Ecotourism Travel Mart 2023 is the first green travel mart and selling fair in the world presented by the Asian Ecotourism Network (AEN). This event is designed to bring together delegates and exhibitors to showcase products and services that have a strong ecotourism components, green technology, and sustainable green practices. The event was carried out in Silang, Cavite, the Philippines, from 29 March to 2 April 2023.
IETM 2023 is supported by the Small Grants Programme, a collaboration project of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) with the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Development Bank (KfW). The SGP aims to contribute to biodiversity protection and management of natural resources in the ASEAN Region, while improving the livelihood of local community within and around the ASEAN Heritage Parks.

The event has several activities, including the series of meetings and visits for preparation of International Ecotourism Travel Mart (IETM) 2023. As part of a development project of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Republic of Indonesia (MoEF), in collaboration with the ACB, co-financed by the Federal republic of Germany through KfW, ACB invites Indonesia ASEAN Heritage Parks includes Gunung Leuser National Park and Way Kambas National Park; the MoEF and SGP proponent DESMA Center to participate in the International Ecotourism Travel Mart (IETM) 2023. Gunung Leuser National Park and Way Kambas National Park together with DESMA Center will present in the forum about the ecotourism development and implementation initiatives in the ASEAN Heritage Parks in Indonesia as well as join the exhibition to showcase the ecotourism and creative economy products and services in the areas.

DESMA Center is one of the proponents working on the sustainable ecotourism development and management program to improve the livelihood of local community around Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the ASEAN Heritage Parks; to contribute to biodiversity protection of the park. The program includes capacity building and digitalization for promotion of the national park's ecotourism.
